Care Instructions
Once you have one of our sparkling, handmade, shirts, you will want to take care of it to ensure that it keeps its sparkle and shine for as long as possible, and this guide will help you do that!
Our shirts are made of top quality, 80/20 Nylon Spandex. They are stretchy, soft, and professionally serged on all construction seams to create a shirt that will last! Holographic fabrics have a delicate foil finish, and should always be hand washed and air dried. Friction from a washing machine is unnecessarily damaging to the finish, and will dull it over time. Taking good care of your shirts will give them a long life, so don't skip this part!
- Always hand wash with a gentle detergent, blot away excess water with a dry towel, and then lay flat to air dry.
- Don't use stain removers because they are very harsh on fabrics and metallic finishes.
- Never bleach your shirts, and skip the fabric softener, it doesn't do anything for nylon/spandex fabrics, and the oils in it can also be damaging.
- DON'T IRON! It will melt the synthetic fabric in your shirt! If your shirt is wrinkled, hang it up and steam it, OR if it is dry, you can pop it in a warm dryer for just a few minutes to make it wrinkle free!
- No dry cleaning! Dry cleaning chemicals will destroy your holographic finish. Just don't do it.
Other things to avoid are oily products like sunscreen, lotions, insect repellant, and body sprays, perfume, and HAIR SPRAY. Keep the chemicals off the sparkly finishes! Your shirt has a full separating zipper in front, take advantage of this fact and take it off when you plan to spray stuff like hair spray, mane detangler, fly spray, etc so you don't coat your shirt with potentially harmful chemical ingredients. (If you are wearing a tank or undershirt, we are not suggesting that you be topless.)
A note about COLOR BLEED
If you select a shirt or request a combo with very bright/deep colors combined with white/light colors, please be aware that you will need to be extra careful when washing to avoid potential color bleed. Like what happens when you wash one pink sock with a load of white towels... And everything gets a little pink. To help prevent this, wash items with extreme color pairings in a LOT of water. Think about diluting it as much as possible, rather than washing it in a small amount of water which will increase the transfer risk. So LOTS of running water, and don't abandon the shirt to soak, forgetting your shirt in a bucket of water is a sure way to have issues with color bleed. Rinse, rinse, rinse, then blot it dry with a towel so no more liquid will come out, and air dry.
With these care tips your spiffy, sparkly shirt is going to last you a long time!
